Alexandria VA auto repair

I admit it. I broke something on my car. It wasn't super important, but it needed to get fixed.Well, my brain says "it will cost you $1800 and you'll have to leave your car there for a WEEK. Just hold off...one...more...weekend." Well, I finally took it in. Yates is within walking distance of my house, so if I had to leave my car, good option. I went in, chatted with the manager, who is very nice and actually commended me on trying to fix it in the first place. I told him "You'll have to order the part, no problem. Here are my keys." Oh no, they had a box of them laying around. He took my keys, popped my hood, didn't charge me for the part and topped of my oil. 10 minutes, $10 for the oil. If I live within 30 miles of Yates, they're my place.

I've been going to Yates for over 20 years. From working on my junker in the eartly days to all my new cars since. They are not always the cheapest, but save you money in the long run because you can trust them. They have always been totally honest with me and never try to rip you off by "fixing" things that aren't broken. They are friendly, professional and really a joy to work with. I never go any place else

AWESOME! All you need to know about Yates is Rob, the guy will help you out...Yates is right down the street from my house and I can always swing the cars by for quick maintenance. They text message me or email throughout the day to let me know progress on the vehicle and ask questions. Work is always top-notch and on schedule. Couldn't be happier with their service on my Jeep and Honda.

Great price and service. Gave me a good explanation and price on a brake pad replacement. Called immediately when it was done and picked it up with no problem.

I drive to work via Braddock most mornings, and I've stopped at the Sunoco for gas a few times. Each time I've felt comfortable, and have enjoyed their choice of music as I pump my gas.This morning I stopped by because a belt was making a particularly large amount of noise (and I just got an oil change yesterday and the guy said there was nothing he could do) and I wanted to see if they could find anything.There was a longish line inside, but Ben took me immediately. He came outside, checked out the car, got some silicone paste, and lubed up the belt (after checking to make sure there were no cracks or anything wrong with it). He was so friendly, understanding, and didn't charge me a thing.I will definitely be back to Yates!

Ok- so the relative amazingness that is ANY business in Alexandria after 5 years in Brooklyn should not render my review null and void. Yates is awesome. My husband had gone in two weeks ago for a quick wiper fluid purchase. Since they didn't have a million plastic bottles of blue stuff, but instead a hose that dispenses the stuff (yay sustainability!) they filled us up and didn't even charge us. Today the brake light went on- great...we're going away for the weekend and leaving TONIGHT! So I took it in and asked what they could do. Within two minutes they had filled up my brake fluid and then took it in for an oil change. They did a thorough look over on our car and did make a couple of suggestions- tires, etc (nothing I didn't already know) and were totally not pushy about it. What did I do to deserve such a great service station within walking distance of my house? Oh- and they might be the best business for customer service ever. And not in a creepy unnatural way- just really pleasant. Yay Yates!

Great customer service. I got several calls from James throughout the course of my problem. Ended up saving me $500!

So I've had really bad luck with auto shops - do I have "I'm a girl, thus a complete sucker!" on my forehead? I'm the girl who ends up with barely enough oil (but got charged full price!) in her car after taking it to the shop around the corner for an oil change. I also am the one who, after taking it to the dealership to deal with one problems, ends up with 3 other new issues that end up costing more than my mortgage.I actually found this shop through Angie's List, and cross referenced w/Yelp. I'm thrilled with this shop - they've been trustworthy, honest, and do an excellent job taking care of my car. Not only that, I usually end up paying less at Yates than what my dealer quotes me for service!I've been so pleased with Yates that I've referred my best friend when it was time for her 30K mile checkup. She was stunned to find out that she'd be paying nearly $300 less than what her dealer was quoting her. HA! Suck that, stupid dealerships and crappy garages!

I live literally around the corner and wasn't sure about moving into a place with a gas station in my back yard. Turns out, Yates is a top notch neighbor. The are the epitome of what a service station should be...friendly, accomodating and convienent. There gas isn't cheap but it's usually a few pennies less than the stations up Mt. Vernon Ave. Their service isn't cheap ($115/hr labor rate) but they're honest and keep their promises. As others mentioned, they decorate for the seasons and constantly landscape. It's a 3 minute walk to the metro so dropping your car off is easy. Note: they don't do inspections onsite themselves but will drive it for you to another station that does. I don't believe they charge extra for that. Also note, they're hours are limited, so don't expect to get gas late in the evening or Sundays. Good for the employees and neighbors, bad for you if you're on 'E'.
